It’s really not. If you want the ultimate in the Netflix viewing experience then you’re going to need an upgrade. That HDTV sitting on your stand just isn’t good enough for streaming your favorite movies and television series.
Earlier in the year, Netflix announced their Netflix Recommended TV program. After receiving feedback from their members about the Netflix experience, it was determined that most members would like the Netflix app on their smart TVs to load quicker and be easier to access, because you know, we’re lazy. We live in a world of instant gratification and having to wait for Netflix to load is apparently high up on our list of things that need to be remedied.
This month Netflix revealed the first lineup of Netflix Recommended TVs that will quell our inability to wait for our binge marathons to begin. Here’s the list: LG 4K UHD TVs w/ webOS 2.0; Sony Android Full HDTVs; Roku TVs from Hisense, Insignia, and TCL.

Netflix is also pretty jazzed about the fact that the Sony and Roku TVs “wake up quickly, remembering where you left off, similar to how smart phones and tablets behave today.” Does this mean every time I turn on the television I will immediately watching the last show my kids had on? Because that’s what happens with my tablet, and it’s kind of annoying.
All snark aside, technology is pretty amazing, and this is kind of cool, but I wouldn’t base my next television purchase on whether or not it was “Netflix Recommended.” However, if you’re in the market for a new TV that will turn on immediately, load apps faster, and is from the Netflix Recommended program, more will be added to the lineup soon.
